Iris is an elegant flower, but like all things, it has its meaning and stories in different cultures. The story we find most intriguing is in Greek mythology, Iris is a goddess who delivers messages to the Gods, and she is also the personification of rainbows.
Because of this belief, the Greek has a beautiful tradition of placing irises on the graves of their loved ones, in hopes of summoning the Goddess to escort them to heaven.
